What defines a next best action?

Actium identifies next best actions for each patient through a complex ranking and prioritization exercise based on clinical, behavioral, and financial factors. Clinical propensity models decipher likely current and future medical needs, to ensure relevance to the patient. Behavioral propensity models factor in their preferences and likelihood to follow through on any given action. Finally, all actions are cross-referenced with the relative values Actium helps customize for your organization based on your pricing and business priorities, from service-line growth to value-based care.

How much data does Actium need to train its models?

Actium’s AI models are trained on your historical data, with more data increasing model performance. However, we have worked successfully with clients that have limited data due to circumstances such as recent EMR migrations, as well as those that are able to provide several years of historical data.

How does Actium correct for potential bias?

Data ethics and addressing racial bias are top priorities for our data science team. We’ve partnered with the University of Chicago Booth School of Business Center for Applied AI to discuss challenges and develop algorithmic mitigation strategies related to bias that exist in many datasets and organizations. Simply removing variables such as race, gender, or zip code from models isn’t enough.

No. Actium is not a clinical decision support tool, and does not recommend medical interventions of any kind. Its purpose is to drive more efficient utilization of available healthcare resources, proactively connecting patients with helpful information and a more seamless customer experience.
